Good for the environment, good for business
Sustainability.
Carbon Neutral
UTL are proud to be working towards being a carbon neutral organisation.
The management of UTL recognises the need to have an active policy that protects the environment, promotes good working practices that are designed to minimise the effects of pollution and reduces UTL’s and its customers’ carbon footprint.
We work in-line with market-leading manufacturers to reduce packaging, the use of non-renewable materials and the environmental impact of the product life-cycle, from manufacture to final disposal. We recycle all redundant devices & consumables in like with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive.
Print Reduction
Paper; 80% of Printing’s Carbon Footprint
Given that paper is thought to represent up to 80% of printing’s carbon footprint, organisations are missing out on a huge opportunity to reduce paper wastage. According to research, whilst over 90% of SMEs recycle toner cartridges and almost 80% offer paper recycling facilities, few are promoting green printing practices to reduce paper usage in the first place.
UTL help customers rationalise the printer fleet, increase the employee/printer ratio and implement print policies to minimise environmental impact. Additionally, we undertake a full audit of your printing and recommend a suite of software to help you control wasted output in your business, from secure print release, setting departmental print quotas to full digitisation of document workflows.
You print – We’ll plant
Consumption
At UTL, our mission is to root out all forms of wastage in the workplace. Wastage comes with a price—and not just for your own business. The degradation of the natural world has everything to do with wasted materials. That’s why UTL takes consumption seriously, taking every opportunity to recycle packaging, ink materials and machine parts. We manage our waste very effectively.

Pollution
UTL works hard to make organisations as sustainable as possible. This includes our own. We’re continually finding new ways to curb workplace pollution, whether it’s through eliminating waste-intensive products from our services, or implementing remote-friendly working conditions to reduce the carbon footprint of our workforce.
Reforestation
One such aspect of our bid to stop pollution involves a third-party reforestation partner called PrintReleaf, discussed above. PrintRelief ensures that UTL remains carbon neutral, allowing us to focus on bringing our own green agenda to other businesses. You print paper, we plant trees: a simple, credible reforestation strategy.

Renewables
As renewable energy solutions become more accessible and more affordable, UTL is excited for the future. We’re excited not just for our own initiatives, but sharing these initiatives with other businesses. We’re committed, for instance, to changing our existing fleet to electric vehicles and push for carbon negativity—not just neutrality.
